Voyage to the Moon

by Kelvin

Weekend was spent seeing a short opera Voyage to the Moon in City Recital Hall. Highly moral and emotive tale of a lost Orlando who realises that his passionate love was “madness” but the love of friendship and loyalty triumphs over all.

The opera makes a reference to the Moon as a place of separation and detachment as Orlando’s (human) sanity is stored on the Moon by a society with superior attributes to that on Earth.

After this lunar inspiration I am planning to carry out this moon phases project using half-eaten Oreo waffles and watch Georges Melies’ Voyage to the Moon from Hugo with my students:

And if you ever venture to Sydney CBD, Dymocks Cafe is a great hideaway spot for young readers and scone eaters alike…

Holidays on my coffee table, yes.
